from bad to worse

It's lunchtime and one of the "adults" and some kids from the first floor have come home to eat. Of course they need some music playing loud from their SUV to help them chew and digest while they ingest indoors.

Since the music is so loud, the kids are now "conversing" with one another at such a volume level that they can be heard over the thumping sludge that they're listening to.

That's Papa picker walking by the side of the vehicle. He's heading to the back to add his special touch the the cacophony.

At least it's now August. Only four more months of this shit to put up with!

%&*@!!!!!

About half an hour ago the din began again. Bags of glass bottles were poured out, plastic ones crimped and cans are being crushed. The damned noise is so loud that even with the windows closed and air conditioner and fan on it is louder than the TV or DVD. You can't concentrate well enough to read. And the noise makes sitting in the backyard intolerable.. Quite frankly, these morons make it disruptive to doing damned near anything.

I've been patient this summer because things seemed to have quieted down (Mama picker wasn't out scavenging all the time). But now that they seem to once again be going it it full steam, I'm looking for solutions (short of hitting them over the head with their own bottles). I've contacted various city agencies (sanitation, health and police) and all of them are unwilling to help ("we see nothing"). Ideas, please!!

lonely cart?

Is this an abandoned shopping cart I see?? No, it isn't. It's about 8 PM on a Friday night which means that tomorrow is recycling collection day. Mama trash picker knows that her neighbors pails are full with plastic, glass and metal gold. She has just left her cart on the corner while she prowls through alleyways (also known as trespassing) sifting for treasure. Gotta get all that good stuff before the city can beat her to it.

back to normal??

After a relatively quiet month or so, it appears that these poodle-heads are picking up steam again. This is at least the third load of crap that they've brought in today. Any wonder why we find it impossible to sit in our backyard and simply enjoy a quiet afternoon? That's right, with this pair, there is no such thing!

a long day

What a long day this Monday has been. First, they're up at the crack of dawn and now they're still at it at 10 PM. I know that it's hard to see 'em in this picture, but believe me, they're out there.

crack of dawn

It's 6:30 am on a Monday morning and look what we have: two carts loaded up and ready to be redeemed. What time do you think these morons up to sort out this crap???

Keep in mind that it generally takes these idiots about two hours sort through their collected crap. You do the math. How would you like to have to hear these shit-for-brains at that hour??

what heat???

So what if it's 95+ degrees on a Saturday evening in July? Bottles and cans aren't going to collect and sort themselves, are they???

Now?!?!?!?!

No picture is necessary for this. It's 10:52 on a Friday night and the asshole with the squeaky-wheeled cart has just brought in a load of crap for sorting.

#$%&*!

a relaxing Saturday afternoon (not for us)

It's a lovely Saturday afternoon today. And what better way to relax than by sorting through the garbage you've picked?

Again, notice that they do do this crap as far away from their house as possible. "No mice", my ass!

By the way: I wonder what's rolled up in that plastic covered rug?

Friday, June 3, 2011

the answer is...

Earlier this evening I asked "Wonder how late he'll stay out there"?

Well, it's now 11:30 PM and he's out there moving the crap about and not caring how much noise is made.

look what the crap dragged in

It's 8 O'clock on a lovely Friday evening in June. And here he is: dragging in the second (or is that the third?) load of crap for the day. You might think that all of this garbage picking would have made him tired. But you'd be wrong! He still has plenty of energy left to do at least a preliminary sorting of this round's collection. Wonder how late he'll stay out there 'til this time?

By the way: notice how this junk is stored as far away from the house as possible? Also, that three of the four trash pails alongside the house have no lids? And, the one pail that does is overflowing so that the lid is useless?

This just in

You say that "if you've seen one cart full of crap, you've seen them all"? True. But, with the day to day visual changes that spring brings, it's easiest now to see that these are, indeed, new pictures each post and not from a stockpile. This shot is from just a few minutes ago.

fresh load

Well, the recycling business is back to being a seven-day affair. Saw a deposit being made on Mother's Day morning at 7:50 AM, but the sorting had to wait until yesterday so that a BBQ could be held.

Last night, there was either a quick midnight drop-off or some fuzzy critter(s) were going through what was already there.

The above picture is of a load that was just delivered. The clanking bottle sorting has begun!

Keeping the window closed only blocks out a portino of the din (as does the radio or fan).

It's springtime!

Forget what the calendar says. Spring has finally arrived. Yesterday (top picture) saw the first shopping cart filled with recyclables ready to be redeemed. Since it was the first one of the season, the load a a bit smaller. Spring training, you know.

Today, the business is back to a more normal level.

But, what's this I see? A new helper? He looks young and healthy enough to bring in BIG loads of crap. Ah, spring! Can the stench, rodents and flies that this garbage attracts be far behind?
